Arthritis Product: What's In The Market?

There are many arthritis products on the market, but not all of them can help you. They can be unproven, such as arthritis bracelets; or extensively studied, such as the different forms of arthritis medication. In any case, consult with your physician on the best road to take for your arthritis therapy.

If you have been diagnosed with arthritis, you might have encountered salesmen and medical practitioners alike marketing the latest arthritic product to relieve you of your symptoms or even cure arthritis entirely. Arthritic products can range from medications and vitamins, to bracelets and equipment.

Before opening your wallet and giving away a few dollars for a so-called cure, you need to understand your condition first and how different treatment regimens are designed to help you.

Arthritis is a blanket term that covers many diseases of the joints. In all arthritis cases, the joints are destroyed or damaged, making movement difficult or painful. Some people with arthritis can find it difficult to even walk, and, without the proper treatment to assist them, might end up with broken bones that can no longer take the weight of the body without the proper cushioning tissue between the joints.

There are many different causes of arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the immune system fails to distinguish self from non-self (or body cell from invader) and attacks the joints.

Gouty arthritis occurs when the body’s excretory system can no longer completely flush out toxins, such as uric acid, so that the uric acid builds up as crystals in the body’s joints. Septic arthritis occurs when an infection of the joints leaves them damaged.

Because there are many causes of arthritis, and because the hard-to-reach and hard-to-treat joints are the root of the problem, there is no single cure for all kinds of arthritis. In fact, there is no cure for arthritis yet, and current medications can only serve to ease the pain of arthritis, but not remove the disease completely. Take this into account when an arthritis product is marketed to you.

Things to Wear to Get Your Arthritis Out?

One such heavily marketed arthritis product is the so-called arthritis bracelet, which may contain copper, or which can have magnets. According to the bracelet’s designers, the metal can help promote blood circulation, which, in turn, can ease the pain of arthritis.

Although some bracelets are well designed and can be attractive to wear, they should not be considered a cure-all, especially with no scientific studies to back their effectiveness up. If you are sold such a bracelet, think twice about investing your money: you may need to save up on arthritis medications. On the other hand, if the bracelet can go with your favorite suit or summer dress, then buy it and wear it - but do not rely on it entirely to help you with your condition...
